Play eat sing

November 26, 2010

Playgroup is in Lami at 7 Naqumu Point until the end of the year!

Directions: If you go through Lami town and past the Novotel, turn left when you get to the street sign “Kalekana Road”. We are in the last house down that little road, right by the sea (almost surrounded by it I say). There is no street sign for our road, so just look out for Kalekana Road. If you go past Fiji Fish, you went too far.

What people say:

“You have a great selection of toys and the homemade bread was fabulous!”

“It was great! I enjoyed it a lot!”

“I had such a good time and it’s so good for me to meet other moms and to learn all these details of life ijn Fiji and details of life with children.”

Thank you, it’s been great to get to know you all!

Lantern Walk

November 19, 2010

It was a windy day with an “almost rain tendency”

After finding each other on the seawall, the children heard a little story about the good knight who shared his mantle with the poor beggar and how he had become a man of god thereafter.

We lit the candles in our beautiful lanterns and then …..
“Mom my candle has gone out!”
“Can you light mine again?”

Although the lanterns were so very high, the cheeky wind took every little flame with it again.

We moved to Suva Point. And there we had a gorgeous time singing and sharing some sweets with a friend and getting dad to carry the lantern.

Thank you Chiemi and Francesca for coming on this evening with this unlikely weather!

“Martin was taking his time, he did not want to rush his horse …”

“I walk with my little lantern …”

St. Martin’s Lantern Walk

November 6, 2010

on Thursday 11 November from 5.30 – 7 pm

In tune with the season and perhaps as a bit of an antidote to the scary dress ups this weekend and the noisy firecrackers next week, we will be doing a quiet, peaceful lantern walk in celebration of the good deeds of Saint Martin.

We’ll meet at 5.30 by the seawall at the parking lot close to the restaurant (Lighthouse, Point After, cannot remember the current name). At dusk we start walking towards town with the children holding their lantern and perhaps singing one or the other song. Somewhere behind the bridge the children will be given something to be shared with a friend. We return and all go home quietly.

Bring a lantern (with the candle!), we will light our children’s lantern together. We are making lanterns at our playgroup and if you would like to make one too, we could meet one afternoon to make more.

It’s for any age! Let’s keep the magic for our children by remaining calm and soothing. Let me know if you come, so we can bring enough goodies to share.
