St. Martin’s Lantern Walk

November 6, 2010

on Thursday 11 November from 5.30 – 7 pm

In tune with the season and perhaps as a bit of an antidote to the scary dress ups this weekend and the noisy firecrackers next week, we will be doing a quiet, peaceful lantern walk in celebration of the good deeds of Saint Martin.

We’ll meet at 5.30 by the seawall at the parking lot close to the restaurant (Lighthouse, Point After, cannot remember the current name). At dusk we start walking towards town with the children holding their lantern and perhaps singing one or the other song. Somewhere behind the bridge the children will be given something to be shared with a friend. We return and all go home quietly.

Bring a lantern (with the candle!), we will light our children’s lantern together. We are making lanterns at our playgroup and if you would like to make one too, we could meet one afternoon to make more.

It’s for any age! Let’s keep the magic for our children by remaining calm and soothing. Let me know if you come, so we can bring enough goodies to share.
